I have lived in the South Hams since the early 1960s. My most recent years have been spent working in the building trade mainly renovating and restoring old properties using traditional methods of stone work with lime mortars and rendering. It was during such a project a client requested that the technique of Italian/Venetian marble plastering be used in their pool house. Wishing to understand more about this process I embarked on my first course in North Devon. My love and admiration for this technique was born. I therefore wanted to develop my skills further and attended a more advanced course in Sussex.

From an early age I have always been fascinated by, and attracted to the Italian Baroque and Renaissance periods – the dramatic and beautiful work of Caravaggio, sculptures of Bernini as well as the architecture of that period. This love and admiration has prompted me to travel to areas of Europe hosting art exhibitions containing works I have not previously viewed, or just to indulge myself by revisiting works that one could never get tired of seeing.
